The Railway Fairy V, or Wednesday Is a Day of Rest

I am currently sitting quite comfortably on the train to Düsseldorf. I even set aside some extra time for the railway blog, and now I find myself with absolutely nothing new to report. There is simply nothing wrong with this journey.

I left Karlsruhe on time and now, shortly after Frankfurt, we are still “on time.” My seat works perfectly, and the climatic conditions inside the carriage are entirely acceptable. Granted, it could have been a bit cleaner. My predecessor could have disposed their newspapers instead of decorating my seat with them, but I won’t complain.

A friendly and seemingly quite competent member of the train staff was kind enough to bring me my obligatory evening coffee. It arrived intact, and I was able to drink it calmly and without incident.

I must say, traveling by train is worth it. No, I’m not joking.

This is also the first time I’m traveling on a Wednesday. Allow me to propose another theory: the Railway Fairy is French. Wednesdays are famously a dead zone there, nothing works. And on Easter Monday, even less than nothing works in our neighboring country. To further support this theory, I must remember to travel by train on Easter Monday next year.

God, this is boring…

…next week, I’ll be traveling on a Sunday again.
